Stafford Loan Counseling

Entrance Counseling Session

Federal regulations require students who receive a Federal Perkins Loan or a Federal Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford Loan to complete entrance loan counseling.

  • Students applying for a loan for the first time at North Carolina Central University (undergraduate, graduate or professional) are required to complete entrance counseling prior to receiving their first loan disbursement. The session will cover the rights and responsibilities of a borrower.
  • Students may complete the loan entrance counseling session on the web at http://www.studentloans.gov. The Entrance Counseling session can be completed on any personal computer. Also, a computer lab is available in the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid for student use to complete financial aid related matters.
  • If the session is completed online, our office will receive the results electronically within three business days following completion.

Loan Exit Counseling Session

Prospective graduates and students who withdraw are required to attend a loan exit counseling session if loan funds were received while enrolled at North Carolina Central University.

  • The exit loan counseling session will cover pertinent points regarding repaying your student loans.
  • This session may be completed on the web at http://www.studentloans.gov.
  • You must have a Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you have forgotten your PIN, you may request a duplicate PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
  • If the session is completed online, our office will receive the results electronically within three business days following completion.
  • A signed copy of the rights and responsibilities checklist must be forwarded to the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, if not signed electronically with your FAFSA pin.
