What is a Technology Enhanced Facility/Classroom (TEF/TEC)?
A technology enhanced facility is one that houses collaborative technology equipment to assist with presentation of information. The Information Technology Services, Media Support will provide training to all individuals that will use a TEF for an event. Sign up for training on TEF equipment, please contact the helpdesk@NCCU.eduto place a work order, or call 919-530-7676 and Select Option “1” at least 5 days prior to the event for room orientation, equipment training and access to the facility on the date of the event.
Following is a list of some of the equipment that is available in a Technology Enhanced Facility:
Lectern: with the exception of the multimedia projector, the lectern houses the equipment
Computer(PC): TEF are equipped with a computer and Internet access. Computers within these facilities will not require a login.
Document Camera: similar in function to an overhead transparency projector, the document camera is used to display slides, paper. And 3-D objects using the multimedia projector.
DVD/VHS Combo: available in many of our facilities, a DVD/VCR combo deck provides playback of VCR tapes and DVD disks.
Laptop Support: most TEF include cabling to project video and audio from your laptop through the multimedia projector. Laptop support for PCs and Macintosh computers typically require adaptors which are not provided.
Microphones: most TEF have built-in microphones and some of the larger auditoriums have wireless microphones available.
Smart Board or Smart Symposium: theTEF house a variety of interactive whiteboards that combines the simplicity of a whiteboard with the power of a computer. It lets you write notes in a digital ink and saves your work all with the simple touch of a finger.
