Lab Support Technician Application

Job Description:

The intern is responsible for providing excellent customer service to lab clients, and responsible for the following scope of work duties:

  • Being knowledgeable about computers in the labs
  • Enforce all lab rules
  • Be knowledgeable of all services provided to students by ITS
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Attend mandatory training sessions offered by ITS and Lab Support meetings
  • Maintain lab equipment by cleaning disk drives, monitors, and keyboards

Qualifications:

Student must be able to troubleshoot basic problems with software and hardware and must report major issues to Lab Administrator for repairs. Student must have basic computer knowledge, and have strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be confident in knowledge of Windows and/or Mac/OS and common problems. Must be a self motivated problem solver, and student should have a desire to learn new technologies. Student will be responsible for monitoring lab activities and ensuring that lab and university policies are enforced and followed.

Must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student.

Requirements:

Applicants must be available and willing to commit at least six (6) months for an internship.

A minimum 2.5 grade point average is required.

Student must provide a resume, and a current unofficial transcript (proof of good academic standing).

Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
