Getting Started with Technology - Parents

As you prepare your Eagle to soar at NCCU, follow these technology suggestions to ensure success and systems compatibility.

What Technology Should Students Bring?

If your student is bringing a computer, make sure:

  • The anti-virus software is up-to-date.
  • To bring all installation disks, receipts, warranty information and manuals.

If your student is bringing a TV, make sure:

Are there computers on campus that my student can use?

Yes.  There is an open use computer lab located in the James Shepard Memorial Library.  Student use printers are also available.

What services does ITS provide that will assist my student?

The University Laptop Program allows NCCU students and employees to purchase Dell and Apple products at deeply discounted prices.

Student Printing Kiosks

The Student Printing Program is a campus-wide solution for all NCCU students. The program allows students to print documents in black and white or color from various locations across the campus.  Students can also print from their personal devices.  Each student is issued a $15 print credit each semester (approximately 300 pages).

Eagles Wi-Fi

The NCCU wireless network (Eagles Wi-Fi) lets students stay connected as they move from location to location on the campus.  Students are allowed to connect 6 personal devices to the network (computer, phone, tablets, gaming systems, etc).  Registration (for each device) is required once at the beginning of each semester.  Eagles Wi-Fi also provides guest user access when you visit NCCU.

Computer Repair Services

The Eagle Technical Center offers computer repair services for personal computers. Each student will receive one free repair each semester.  We offer many services at competitive prices.
