Mail Center
StampsWe take pride in the services we provide and recognize that for our students, mail is an important and often times  an intimate connection to their loved ones. Therefore, we strive to provide reliable, convenient services to our students with the understanding that your mail is our top priority!

The NCCU Mail Center is located conveniently on the lower level of the Student Union beside the bookstore. The mail center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Fridays. Each student residing on campus is provided with an exclusive mailbox. That box will remain with them for the duration of their stay in University housing.

Students receiving care packages, birthday cards, holiday gifts, or any other items should have the sender address the package in the following manner:

(Your Name)

Federal Express, Airborne Express & UPS Packages can be addressed to:

(Your Name)

Mail is distributed to student's mailboxes daily. All packages are treated with the utmost care and consideration. Parcels will be held for the student's receipt for 30 business days. For students who are fond of writing home, sending postcards to family and friends, etc., a postal service drop box is located in the lobby area of the NCCU Mail Center for all stamped mail.

The charge for mailbox rental is only:

$15.00 per semester and
$8.00 per summer session.

This charge is automatically placed on students' accounts that reside on campus. Students residing off campus may rent mailboxes for the same low fee.

What time does the mail center send letters out?

Every day mail is delivered to the post office at 7:30am, 9:00am, and 4:30pm. All metered mail must be in the mail center no later than 3:00 pm, stamped mail must be in by 4:00pm in order to make it to the post office that day.

What is the procedure for receiving packages that require a signature?

All students receiving packages and mail that require a signature must present a valid ID and the package notification slip. Due to limited space, packages will not be held longer than 30 days. After 30 days the package will be returned to sender. We will give each student every opportunity to pick up their package(s) by placing first, second, and third notices in the mailboxes before any package is returned.

What if someone forgets to write my name on a letter addressed to my mailbox?

Please make sure that anyone sending you mail writes your name on the parcel or envelope. In order to protect our students from unwarranted solicitations any mail received that cannot be identified, as belonging to an NCCU student, is returned to the sender, no exceptions .

Can my friends pick up my mail for me?

Please keep in mind that you may not authorize anyone the use of your mailbox. You should keep your key in a safe and secure place, and do not disclose your mail box number to anyone. In order to retrieve mail from your P.O Box you must have your key. Even the Mail Center staff can not retrieve mail from your box once a key has been issued.

What happens if I lose my mailbox key?

The cost for replacing a lost, stolen, or non-returned mailbox key is $25.00, which includes the lock replacement.

What are a student's responsibilities upon graduation or separation from the University?

When you graduate, decide to leave the University before the end of the school year, or move off campus prior to your graduation, you must turn in your key at the NCCU Mail Center. You must also complete a " Change of Address Form " so your mail can be forwarded to you.
What if I graduate or leave the university and forget to turn in my key?
