Why:
The ACSLP database has been a long time coming, after nearly 10 years of gradual, constant "de-paperizing" of some of ACSLP's processes. This latest incarnation is a bold step forward to empower students to fulfill their Community Service requirements much more efficiently and conveniently.
How It Works:
Prospective agencies will continue to submit their prospective projects through the appropriate online form, where they will are cleared and compiled by ACSLP staff. Bow, instead of the old bulky 450+ page PDF, students can now browse their available Community Service options through a web interface, and search their best option through the various criteria available from the database.
Benefits:
1) Students better served
2) Content/Data is more easily accessed, updated and maintained.
3) Infrastructure is open to further, more efficient integration options.
Future Possibilities:
1) Creating a backend allowing ASCLP even more effective, immediate and direct access to the database.
2) A workflow/approval process so that ACSLP can approval potential agency submission without the currently data migration processes.
3) Integration with Banner so that Students can directly volunteer and track their Community Service hours/progress with minimal latency (AKA "real time"), making the entire completely online, paper-free, and as efficient as possible.
