The University Testing Center (UTC) was established in 1987 under the Division of Academic Affairs. Its administrative responsibilities are to ensure that resources are available to offer special assistance to students in the areas of test preparation and test taking strategies and to enhance the university's flexibility in scheduling and controlling testing for new students. It is UTC's objective that by utilizing services offered by the Center, students will increase their content knowledge and test taking skills thereby improving test scores and overall academic performance. The staff is aware of the various learning styles; therefore, assistance for students is individualized in an attempt to increase proficiency in the areas of test taking and overall learning.
The mission of the UTC is to provide comprehensive testing services to the university community that seek to facilitate teaching, enhance learning and support advancements in computer-based technology. Maintaining a center that offers a full schedule of tests geared toward measuring educational and professional development in a variety of areas is the primary focus.
