Program Overview
The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 585 functions as the Department of Aerospace Studies at North Carolina Central University. AFROTC offers students the opportunity to earn a presidential officer’s commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduation. AFROTC selects, educates, trains and commissions college men and women through a three-to-four-year curriculum. The program consists of both the General Military Course (GMC), a course sequence normally taken during the freshman and sophomore years, and the Professional Officer Course (POC), which is taken during the junior and senior years.

Aerospace Studies, Minor
Students may choose to minor in aerospace studies by completing a minimum of eighteen semester hours in aerospace studies classes and one of the following classes: POLS 3310, POLS 3730, POLS 3740, HLS 3000, HLS 3500 or HIST 3210. Students must maintain status as an enrolled Cadet in the NCCU Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) to be eligible to minor in Military Science.
