College of Science & Technology

The College of Science and Technology was established in fall, 2006 following the division of the former College of Arts and Sciences at North Carolina Central University. The new College of Science and Technology comprises the departments that offer science, technology, and mathematics undergraduate degrees: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental, Earth and Geospatial Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Physics. Science, technology, and mathematics graduate degrees at the master's level are offered in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Physics.


The new Mary M. Townes Science building houses the College of Science and Technology and it is equipped with classrooms and teaching laboratories having state-of-the-art equipment and technology. A large number of classes are taught in the building utilizing the wired electronic classrooms and lecture halls. Additionally, this facility has been most convenient for the campus community's use for seminars, workshops, training sessions, and other events. During the 2006-07 academic year the College of Science and Technology began a rigorous strategic planning process and the mission and vision for the College is being determined and are taking form as given in the following.
