piano-sax The NCCU Department of Music offers a strong, diversified curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. Bachelor of Arts degrees are offered in Music Education (with NC state licensure), and Music Liberal Arts, with concentrations in Sacred Music, Ethnomusicology and Music Industry. The Bachelor of Music and Master of Music are offered in Jazz Studies. Undergraduate Jazz Studies, Sacred Music, Music Industry and Ethnomusicology majors also have the option of earning a second degree in Music Education with NC State teaching licensure.

NCCU offers a minor in music at the baccalaureate level. The Department emphasizes thorough musical preparation and professionalism. Music majors at NCCU cultivate excellent technical skills, gain appreciation of a wide breadth of artistic genres and styles, and become proficient with technological applications that are re-shaping the arts and industry. The program provides gateways to internships and innovative research at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and students are offered numerous opportunities to gain top tier professional knowledge. Such opportunities prepare NCCU graduates for numerous employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as further study.
