College of Arts and Sciences

Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences at North Carolina Central University where student achievement is the most significant priority.  The College of Arts and Sciences provides excellent teaching, research, learning and valuable service opportunities for students in the humanities and natural and physical sciences.  The more than 250 teacher-scholars and staff are faithfully dedicated to engaging students in multi-cultural learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.  This collaboration reflects the cultural and intellectual diversity of the global community.  Within the College, there are currently 13 undergraduate programs for students to select for their major, 8 master programs for graduate degrees and a PhD in Integrated Biosciences.  The College of Arts and Sciences consists of a mentoring environment that allows students to work closely with faculty to enhance their educational experience.  Students enjoy and benefit from collaborating with an award-winning faculty on leading research projects ranging from producing documentary films to drug discovery and cancer research.  The engaging learning environment is reflected in student development throughout the College.  The Department of History for example, has produced more students who have earned the PhD in History than any other HBCU, while in Pharmaceutical Sciences at least ninety percent of the graduates are placed in industry or graduate and professional schools.  The College of Arts and Sciences forms the academic core of the University and is the Gateway to Opportunity for NCCU students.
