Environmental Biology major Kiera Saleem recently completed a summer internship experience at the Universityof Nevada– Reno. While previous internships experiences at UNR revolved around seismology and instrumentation, Kiera worked in a lab on the subject of butterfly evolution. In the area surrounding UNR, female butterflies have been changing preferences from native plants to alfalfa regarding where they will lay their eggs. Kiera was involved in all steps of this process which included capturing butterflies in their native environment, counting their eggs and longevity testing. Kiera had a great experience in an interesting part of the country. Thanks for representing NCCU so well!
