The NCCU Geography Bowl Team won 1 game at the North Carolina Geography Bowl held on the campus of UNC-Greensboro on September 28^th, 2012.  After losing in a tiebreaker to eventual runner-up Appalachian State in the first round, NCCU lost three straight to UNC-Charlotte, East Carolina and eventual champ UNC-Greensboro.  In the final round against UNC-Pembroke, NCCU won a 70-30 decision.  The focus of that round was on sports geography, with Gene Squires and David Wait leading the way in that round.  History major David Wait was one of the top undergraduate scorers for the entire tournament and may be able to represent the North Carolina Geography Bowl team as it competes in the Southeast Geography Bowl at the SE-DAAG (Southeast Department of the Association of American Geographers) Annual meeting in November.  Also a special thanks to all team members, including Alexandra Valladares, Zuri Sneed and Edward Holley.  It was a great learning experience that covered a wide gamut of subjects while meeting other NC Geography students.
