DEEGS Graduates Eight

At NCCU’s Spring Commencement Exercises on May 11th, 8 DEEGS students earned degrees.  Graduate student Philip Martin earned his Master’s in Earth Science.  He will continue Ph.D. work at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  Part of his dissertation work will include field work in Mongolia.

7 undergraduates also earned degrees.  William Barber III, Kenneth Degraffenreid, Thomas Horne and Kiera Saleem earned their degrees in the Environmental Science program.  Kenneth has taken advantage of internship opportunities and is exploring graduate schools throughout the country.  Kiera was offered an internship at the world-renowned Woods Hole Institute in Massachusetts for the summer.  After that, she is also looking at graduate schools throughout the country.

Daron Harris, Joseph Roberts and Zuri Sneed earned their degrees in our Geography Program.  Joseph has been weighing overseas job offers in GIS and graduate schools, but is learning towards an endowed graduate assistantship at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

Also graduating of note was Sociology student Jameel Perry.  After taking a geography course as part of his GEC requirements, he became interested in GIS and took many of our department’s GIS classes as electives.

Congratulations to all graduates and best of luck in the future!
