We consider the problems of the theoretical description and interpretation of basic time resolved optical experiments (spontaneous emission, pump-probe, three-pulse photon echo). Weshow how molecular structural and dynamical information can be extracted from these experiments. Advantages of the time-domain spectroscopy over the traditional frequency domain spectros copy are discussed.
