In addition to the five primary projects, the NCCU Computational Center supports a wide array of smaller scope "Seed Projects", which are selected to provide a source of new ideas, new participants and new directions for the Center, and are necessary to maintain the vitality of the existing projects and the Center as a whole. Research areas with nascent and transformative opportunities continue to identified and funded under the Seed Project Funding program.
The seed projects also provide a mechanism for bringing new researchers from and outside of the NCCU and HBCU-CSN network into the Center. Faculty members that are in early-career stage and/or are from underrepresented groups are encouraged to participate in this program. Some of these projects are extension in new directions of an already existing project, but proposals can include research presently not existing in the Center. The goal is to identify at least one seed project for each physical science department. Existing seed projects are listed by departmental affiliation below:
