NCCU's Biotechnological & Pharmaceutical Law Institute will have 4 major research areas:
Biotechnology and Patent Law
By identifying specific research areas the institute will remain focused and effective and the scope will not exceed the resources and capacity of the university. The institute will offer a certificate in biotechnology and pharmaceutical law. The certificate program will be for law students enrolled in the NCCU School of Law. The institute will offer an introductory course to patent law and pharmaceutical regulation. The course will be geared toward undergraduate students and other non-lawyers. Another short course will be developed as “Hot Topics in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Law.” Quarterly seminars and workshops will be held on areas related to this industry. The institute will house a clinic/pro bono program for current law students to work in local patent law practices. The institute will host an annual symposium each November, as well.
