North Carolina Central University offers distance education programs designed for busy professionals, those who must balance their time between job, home and other personal obligations. The distance education programs at NCCU conveniently fit into a student’s professional and personal schedule. Courses and programs are delivered through videoconferencing, the Internet, and at off-campus locations.

Students receive individualized attention and support not found in many traditional programs. Remember that online learning is not easy. Professors at NCCU will demand the same quality of work, same number of hours as required in the traditional classroom.

Exam Proctor

The UNC Online Proctoring Network has been designed to enhance the academic integrity of online courses by providing students with an easily accessible pool of qualified proctors. These qualified proctors will be available for students who are taking online courses at any of the constituent universities of the University of North Carolina. This network will help students to easily access proctors and find a facility to take their exam in a shorter, more effective period of time.

This proctoring service is only available to students registered in the Office of Student Disability Services. Get the Testing Instructions PDF from the campus Forms and Documents Repository for details.

Student Complaints

If you are participating in an online program or course through North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and you have a concern about your experiences with NCCU other than your final grade, you are encouraged to first contact the Distance Education Coordinator for your program or the Division of Extended Studies. If your concerns are still unresolved, the following options are available to you:

1) Follow NCCU’s process for student complaints.  You may also contact The Commission on Colleges of The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

2) If you live in one of the states listed below, you have the option of contacting the state where you are residing to express your concerns.

• New Hampshire
• New York - All written complaints must be investigated. Students are asked to complete a Student Complaint Form
• Ohio
• Oregon - All complaints about schools under our regulatory jurisdiction or an exempt status approved by this office are handled by ODA staff. Complaints about exempt schools are referred to the Attorney General’s office.
• Tennessee
• Virginia
