What is RSS?
NCCU's RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML format designed for sharing web content like news headlines. An RSS service (also known as an RSS channel) consists of a list of items, each of which contains a headline, description, and a link to a web page. How Do I Use RSS?

To use RSS, you will simply need a RSS news reader (or "aggregator") that will allow you to collect and display RSS service. RSS news readers allow you to view the service you select all together in the same place and, by automatically retrieving updates, stay current with new content instantly, as it is published.

There are many different news readers available. In most cases, they are simple programs ("applications") that you download and install. Most of them are free. Updated versions of the all the most popular web browsers have built-in RSS readers, as do most e-mail programs. Here, Microsoft provides instructions to receive RSS feeds through their products, Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook 2007.

Free RSS news readers are also available for almost every format and platform. Most mobile web device and even many cellular phones can also receive NCCU RSS feeds. Listed below are some popular options that will work with your web browser:

After setting up your news reader, you will be ready to use NCCU's RSS. To subscribe, right-click on one of the channels and select "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" to copy the location (URL) of the service. Follow the instructions for your particular news reader, and then paste this location wherever it asks for the location of the service you wish to subscribe to.

In an effort to syndicate standardized, compliant RSS code, North Carolina Central University Web Services validates RSS 2.0 feed through W3C.org.
