Students WalkingThe Office of Orientation and First Year Experience provides programs and services for newly admitted undergraduate students and their families throughout the year to help them with their transition to college life.  These programs include the Eagle Orientation Program (EOP), and Week of Welcome (WOW).

The summer Eagle Orientation Program has academic advisors, university faculty, administrators, and student leaders guiding incoming students through a one-day program which is an introduction to college life, services, and the general education curriculum.  The EOP Parents Program is designed to expose parents and family members to NCCU’s resources.   Week of Welcome takes place a week before the start of classes, and consists of interactive programs designed to encourage all students to become engaged in the NCCU community.

The Office of Orientation and First Year Experience provides programs to stimulate intellectual growth, social responsibility, personal wellness, and career development.  In addition, to better address the needs and concerns of parents and family members, the NCCU Parents and Family Association was set up to serve the following roles:
  • Act as a liaison between the University and parents and family members to communicate institutional policies, practices, procedures, and systems.
  • Develop and coordinate programs and events that promote parent and family involvement.
  • To advocate for students and their families during their transition into the University and throughout the student’s tenure at NCCU.
  • To serve as a referral resource.
