The Eagle C.O.R.E. (Community, Opportunity, Respect, and Encouragement) Program consists of 3 student coordinators and 22 peer leaders who serve as mentors to first year students throughout the academic year.  During orientation, the Eagle C.O.R.E. Leader/Coordinator gives first year students and family members tours, takes the students to take their placement tests, and takes them to register for classes.  Throughout the year, first year students are able to contact their Eagle C.O.R.E. Leader/Coordinator with any questions and/ or concerns about their academic and social transition to NCCU.

Any student who has at least a 2.5 GPA and is in good academic and judicial standing is eligible to become a part of the Eagle C.O.R.E. Program as long as they have been at NCCU for at least one semester.  Eagle C.O.R.E. Leaders and Coordinators must be enthusiastic, have effective verbal and communication skills, show ability to work well with individuals and groups as a leader, and can work well under pressure.  Candidates for these positions are carefully screened, and must go through two rounds of interviews.  Once selected, the Eagle C.O.R.E. team goes through extensive training in areas such as customer service, university resources, and problem-solving.
