The Office of Orientation and First Year Experience provides programs and services for newly admitted undergraduate students and their families throughout the year to assist them with their transition to college life.
Student Orientation Overview
Orientation for new undergraduates is a two part program.
- Part I, known as the Eagle Institute, is an orientation session that focuses on academic advising, registration, and an introduction to the NCCU Community. For freshmen, the program is one and a half days; for transfers and students pursuing a second bachelor’s degree, the program is only one day.
- Part II, which begins four days prior to the start of classes, you will be formally welcomed to the University, and participate in programs focusing on getting acclimated to the University climate and culture.
Parent Orientation Overview
Parents and family members are invited to attend our Parent/Family program during the Eagle Institute, which includes information from Student Accounts, Scholarships and Student Aid, University Police, Student Health and Counseling Services, and Residential Life.
